50! Streaky Green brushed over Glossy White on stoneware.

Thursday, January 30, 2014

Teapots 42 and 43. The top one is sponged cobalt wash over
Randy's Yellow, white clay. I was attempting to imitate
something I saw in a magazine. Their cobalt was much darker.
Teapot 43 is Seaworld on white clay. It looked quite successful
until I discovered a crack on the lid. It's also very heavy.
I still like it despite the flaws. The next thing I need to work on
is cleaning up the spout holes: they're often clogged or ragged.
But it's really hard to squeeze your hand inside to clean it.
And the spouts could still stand to be higher.

Teapots 40 and 41. Really pleased with the top one.
The glaze is Falls Creek Shino on top, Seaworld on the
bottom; the two glazes overlap in the middle. The one on
the bottom has a Glossy White interior and outside is
commercial Butter Yellow (2-3 coats). Needs improvement.
The spout is way big for the body but the curve of it works.

             Teapots 34-37.

             Top, Celadon on stoneware.

Second from top, Glossy White over Floating Blue on earthenware.

Third one down, ran into trouble with this one: Black all over, then
lid, spout tip and interior double dipped Floating Blue. Spout holes
closed. That's the second time that's happened. Note to self: stop
             double dipping interior of pots.

Bottom: My favorite! Mini teapot (3" body), Floating blue on
earthenware. It functions! Now I need to make some mini tea
             bowls to go with it.
